Intensive review of the BC Arbitration Act and rules of procedure for arbitrations, including various sets of rules of arbitral organizations, practice issues in in-person and distance hearings, documents-only arbitrations, ethical issues, natural justice, evaluating evidence.

Part III: Arbitration Workshop
May 2-4, 2023
Award-Writing/Role-Play Workshop
Practice award writing. Role-play in-person arbitration. Each participant will conduct an arbitration and act as claimant and respondent in given scenarios under supervision of experienced coach.
2 days, plus post-test (take-home award-writing exam).

Documents-only Arbitration (optional)
Specialized documents-only arbitration training, focusing on statutory arbitration scheme for vehicle damage disputes. Determining actual cash value of wrecked automobiles.
The course is presented in fulfilment of ADRBC’s arrangement with ICBC to provide trained arbitrators for the “coverage dispute” scheme under the Insurance (Vehicle) Regulation.
