WHO should take the Arbitrator Training Course?

Part I "Basic Law for Arbitrators" is intended for non-lawyers. Part II "Conduct of Arbitration Proceedings" is intended for those with career goals in Commercial or Family Arbitration. Commercial arbitration is the main focus, but course content and materials will be supplemented for those interested in Family arbitration. Part III "Arbitration Workshop" is a skills-based follow-up to Part II. The focus is on decision-writing and hearing practice. "ICBC Coverage Disputes" is offered in conjunction with Part III. It prepares those who have completed the above courses to conduct vehicle damage disputes. Participants are eligible to be placed on the ADRBC Roster for ICBC Coverage Disputes.

New: You can now take the ADRBC`s Arbitrator Training Course online powered by Royal Roads University

ADRBC, in partnership with Royal Roads University is offering another option for those outside of BC`s Lower Mainland region, or busy professionals who cannot attend the Arbitrator Training Course course in person.

ADRBC`s Interactive online Arbitrator Training Course provides both lawyers and non-lawyers with the basic skills necessary to become an effective Arbitrator. The course provides an introduction to the basic principles of law governing contract law, an intensive review of the conduct of arbitration proceedings, the BC Arbitration Act, and the commonly used rules of procedure. Additionally, students will learn how to conduct a hearing and how to write a reasoned award.
